Brian over at Advanced NFL Stats, who runs an excellent site, has compiled seven years worth of play-by-play data for the NFL. It looks like an amazing data set: http://www.advancednflstats.com/2010/04/play-by-play-data.html

if you're interested in playby play data, I've got some data that goes quite a bit further than the stuff at advancenflstats.....would love to partner with someone to use it
